Woodfield to Put Extra Cash in Pajama Pockets of Early-Bird Holiday Shoppers

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (November 9, 2005) - It's as much a holiday tradition as turkey with all the trimmings. Every year, on the Friday after Thanksgiving, scores of serious shoppers, armed with newspaper ads and sales flyers, set their alarms at some ridiculously early hour to be among the first to arrive at Woodfield Mall. This year, the Chicago area's largest shopping center has announced a plan to make this early morning tradition just a bit more palatable, and profitable. The first 100 hearty souls to arrive prior to 5 a.m. on Friday, November 25, at the mall's Door 1, next to Todai Seafood Buffet, still wearing pajamas, will receive a free Woodfield Gift Card valued at $50.

Woodfield Gift Cards, available in any denomination between $20 and $300, come in convenient plastic and are redeemable like cash at nearly 300 of the malls stores and restaurants. The first 100 pajama-clad arrivals will also receive a pair of wearable reindeer antlers, distinguishing them as true paragons of perennial present-purchasing.

Eager early birds wont have to wait long to exercise their shopping prerogative. Woodfields KB Toys, the Disney Store, and JCPenney have announced they will open at 5 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving. The entire mall will be open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Ranked as Illinois' number one tourist attraction, Woodfield Mall is home to many of the countrys top retailers, along with dozens of new concepts and specialty shops that cant be found anywhere else in the Midwest. Merchants range from the unique - fine art and jewelry dealers, cutting-edge clothiers for men, women, teens and children, and home furnishing emporiums - to nationally-recognized department stores JCPenney, Lord & Taylor, Marshall Fields, Nordstrom and Sears. Notable newcomers since last holiday season include clothing retailers Buckle, JimmyZ, Forth and Towne, French Connection, NikeWomen, and BEBE Sport, jewelers JB Robinson and Tiffany's IRIDESSE, plus Aldo Accessories, Sony Style, C.O. Bigelow, and Lindt Chocolate Shop, along with the centers newest restaurants, P. F. Chang's China Bistro and Texas de Brazil.

Woodfield's much-touted Illinois Collection holiday dicor centers around the area's largest indoor tree. Weighing in at close to 6,000 pounds, and donning more than 850,000 lights, 12,000 ornaments and 6,750 feet of ribbon and garland, the mammoth evergreen is surrounded by 20-foot-tall replicas of state landmarks including Sears Tower, Wrigley Field and the State Capitol, rising above a wintry street scene with four moving trains and brightly decorated storefront windows. For additional information about Woodfields seasonal happenings and expanded holiday hours, log on to www.shopwoodfield.com or call (847) 330-1537. The official Web site of Woodfield, www.shopwoodfield.com also features an online gift guide, information about individual stores, current sales, new merchandise, an interactive mall directory, and ready-to-print savings coupons. Web users can sign up for a weekly Woodfield e-bulletin of news about favorite stores, events and special offers.

Woodfield Mall, located in Schaumburg, Ill., at Golf Road and Route 53, is easily accessible from key regional arteries I-290 and I-90. Holiday Valet Parking is available at designated mall entrances for a day-long fee of $6 (free for the physically challenged).
