FALL FASHION HITS THE HOMEROOM

WOODFIELD MALL ASKS CHICAGOANS TO VOTE FOR THEIR FAVORITE BACK-TO-SCHOOL LOOKS

Schaumburg, Ill. (July 21, 2004) -- Reading, writing and arithmetic may rule the classroom, but back-to-school fashions are the high-priority in the hallways, at the school dances and at local after-school hang-outs. As the new back-to-school fashions roll into Woodfield Mall, the center's official web site, www.shopwoodfield.com, will host an online survey of the hottest girls' and guys' looks for back-to-school and give respondents a chance to win a Woodfield Mall shopping spree. Running from August 2 - 29, 2004, the poll features photos of hot looks for girls and guys along with style descriptions. The Chicago-area's largest mall is also home to more juniors and children's retailers than any other center in the region, and now features the newly opened Urban Outfitters, d.e.m.o., hanna Andersson and Misako.

The four most popular looks used for the survey include Preppy Chic, Hip Hot, Streetwear and Denim Daze. All items can be found at Woodfield Mall this season.

Preppy Chic modernizes the classic American look with slimmer cuts on polo shirts and sweaters. Hot colors include purple and orange as well as subdued shades of pink and green. Tweeds and plaids paired with khakis or jeans will be seen everywhere this fall.

The Hip Hot look is a nod to fashion-conscious music celebrities like Sean John, J-Lo., Beyonce and Usher. Gone are the baggy pants as high-fashion, smooth looks are in. The wearer of this style likes to stand out in a crowd and is ready to take fashion risks.

Capitalizing on the popularity of the movies Anchorman and Starsky & Hutch and the TV show That 70's Show, the Streetwear look updates 70's style with slimmer cuts. Ponchos will be seen on girls while guys will sport 70's stripes and geometric patterns.

The Denim Daze of fall will see the continuing popularity of jeans. Five-pocket jeans have returned in a big way along with narrow straight-leg shapes in basic washes and vintage styles. According to a recent report, the average American has nine pairs of jeans in his or her closet. And why not? Jeans can go from casual to dressy in a flash.

Woodfield is home to nearly 300 of the world's most-recognized retailers -- dozens of which cannot be found anywhere else in the Midwest. More than 30 restaurants and food specialty shops are scattered throughout the center serving everything from sit down meals of the freshest seafood, salads and steaks to grab and go snacks like pretzels and smoothies. Sit-down service restaurants include Todai Seafood Buffet, a Japanese all-you-can-eat seafood house, The Cheesecake Factory, home to 30-plus cheesecake varieties each day, Pan-Asian cuisine from Stir Crazy Cafe, hamburger champions John's Garage and Red Robin, kid favorite Rainforest Cafe and the salad-lover paradise of Ruby Tuesday.

Located at Route 53 and Golf Road in Schaumburg, 8 miles from O'Hare International Airport, Woodfield is the Chicago-area's largest shopping center and the top tourist destination in Illinois.
